Artificial Rocks

Rocks are great things for landscaping and decorating your property. The problem is that for such a naturally occurring item, rocks are expensive. Have you ever been rock shopping? It may seem silly, but they are for sale all over the place. Whether you need evenly sized gravel or larger landscaping stones, you may be surprised to find out how much you’ll have to pay to get them neatly arranged into your yard. Artificial rocks are not the solution for all landscaping rock dilemmas, but they are an option in many cases. Artificial rocks are not difficult to create and can bring some beauty to your yard without quite so much investment as real rocks require.

Paper Or Plastic

Artificial stone can come in the shape of paper and plastic. Obviously, most papers wouldn’t stand up to much weather. There are some advanced technology papers however, such as those used in some packing materials, that are extremely durable. With a wire frame and a little bit of painting, you’ll have some lightweight and perfectly sized fake rocks. Plastic artificial rock is harder to create. You can certainly buy them, but they aren’t really cheaper than real rock. There is another option for fake rock made from plastic. Heat moldable plastic can be formed easily and used as fake stone. The problem here is time investment, and again, cost can become an issue if you need very many artificial rocks.

Master Of Plaster

If you need artificial rocks and boulders that are molded to precise shapes, you can start making fake rocks from plaster. Plaster is a great tool for how to make fake rock because of its rock-like qualities. Plaster is easy to mold and easy to paint. When your artificial landscape rocks, make from plaster, are finished, they will have similar weight and appearance to real rocks. Plaster is fairly inexpensive. If you always wanted to know how to make artificial rocks that look symmetrical or like other rocks, plaster is the way to do it. If you need larger artificial rocks, or you need a large number of artificial rocks, you need to try another method though.

Cementing Your Landscaping

Cement and concrete chunks are great materials to start with when you are discovering how to make artificial rocks and boulders. Artificial rock construction becomes very simple with materials like this. It is still possible to mold wet concrete, but if all you have is set pieces, you can just break them and paint them. Fake landscaping rocks are suddenly inexpensive and whatever color and size you’d like them to be. Artificial landscape rocks and other artificial rocks can be made to order with some rock substitute. There are all kinds of ways to do it if you are serious about how to make a fake rock. With some time and attention to detail, you can make some really beautiful and convincing artificial rocks.
